123 Boerum Childcare was created from a deeply personal place. After welcoming our daughter
Amelia, we began viewing early childhood in an entirely different way.
We wanted to create the kind of environment we would genuinely feel comfortable leaving our own child in — calm, beautiful, nurturing, intentionally small, and rooted in meaningful care.
What began as a personal vision grew into 123 Boerum Childcare: a family-owned program thoughtfully built to help children feel safe, supported, connected, and truly known each day.
As owners and parents, Tatianna and Shawn Pettis thoughtfully built 123 Boerum Childcare with intention from the very beginning.
From assembling furniture late into the night to carefully selecting books, materials, and learning spaces, every detail of our program was created with purpose and care.
More than just a daycare, we wanted to create a space where children feel emotionally secure, families feel connected, and meaningful relationships can grow.

Our journey to parenthood, including our experience with IVF and fertility challenges, deeply shaped the heart behind 123 Boerum Childcare.
Becoming parents gave us an even deeper appreciation for how important it is for children and families to feel supported, connected, and genuinely cared for.
That experience strengthened our desire to create a calm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, families feel welcomed, and parents can leave each day with true peace of mind.
At 123 Boerum Childcare, we believe the people caring for children each day matter deeply. Our team was thoughtfully selected through years of firsthand experience working alongside one another in childcare centers — not simply through resumes alone.
These are caregivers we have personally worked beside, trusted, and confidently welcomed into both our program and our own daughter Amelia’s daily care over the years.
Every caregiver within our program has completed required background clearances, New York State childcare trainings, and CPR certification while continuing ongoing professional development throughout the year.
We have intentionally built a team grounded in warmth, attentiveness, professionalism, patience, and a genuine commitment to caring for young children.
Long before our doors officially opened, 123 Boerum Childcare was thoughtfully created with a vision of offering something deeply intentional for Brooklyn families.
Every detail — from our learning spaces and daily routines to the materials we choose and the atmosphere we create — reflects our commitment to providing children with a warm, enriching, and thoughtfully prepared environment.
Every part of our program is intentionally designed to support young children in feeling safe, confident, curious, and connected.
From our carefully prepared learning spaces to our daily routines, celebrations, creative activities, movement, and meaningful relationships, we strive to create an environment where childhood feels joyful, enriching, and deeply cared for.
We believe children thrive in spaces where they feel emotionally secure, genuinely supported, and free to learn through play, exploration, creativity, and connection.
We intentionally keep our program smaller to help children feel comfortable, connected, and truly known.
Children learn best through hands-on exploration, creativity, movement, and meaningful experiences.
We celebrate diversity, traditions, kindness, and meaningful experiences that help children better understand the world around them.
We strive to create a calm, welcoming atmosphere where children and families feel at home.
