At 123 Boerum, our intentionally small mixed-age environment encourages children to learn naturally from one another each day. Younger children benefit from observing language, routines, confidence, and social skills modeled by older peers, while older children develop empathy, patience, leadership, and a strong sense of independence through helping and interacting with younger friends.
Through play, movement, creativity, neighborhood exploration, and meaningful daily routines, children are supported within a warm, welcoming community where every child feels valued, included, and encouraged to grow at their own pace.
From neighborhood walks and sensory play to shared meals, story time, movement, and creative exploration, our days are centered around connection, curiosity, and joyful learning experiences.

While we follow a consistent daily rhythm, we also remain responsive to each child’s individual needs, interests, and energy throughout the day.

Families provide their child’s breakfast, lunch, snacks, and a labeled water bottle or sippy cup for use throughout the day, as parents often know their child’s preferences and routines best.
To help support busy mornings and growing toddlers, we also keep a variety of child-friendly backup options available at the daycare, including yogurts, fresh fruit, pouches, crackers, and simple toddler favorites.
Mealtimes are approached as opportunities for conversation, independence, social learning, and practicing everyday manners in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Our daily rest and nap window takes place from approximately 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in a calm, cozy, and thoughtfully prepared environment.
Each child has their own assigned cot and blanket to help create consistency and comfort throughout their time in our program. Bedding is individually labeled and routinely washed and refreshed.
We understand that every child adjusts to rest routines differently, and we work closely with families to help support smooth transitions and age-appropriate sleep habits whenever possible.

At 123 Boerum Childcare, we believe children benefit from growing up in an environment where different cultures, traditions, family experiences, and celebrations are welcomed, respected, and thoughtfully explored throughout the year.
Through seasonal activities, cultural celebrations, family events, music, stories, food, art, and hands-on experiences, children are introduced to a variety of traditions and ways of celebrating from around the world in meaningful and age-appropriate ways. From Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations to exploring traditions connected to Lunar New Year, Cinco de Mayo, Black History Month, Juneteenth, St. Patrick’s Day, and more, we strive to create opportunities for children to build curiosity, appreciation, empathy, and connection with the diverse world around them.
We believe these shared experiences help children develop a strong sense of community, belonging, kindness, and respect for others while celebrating both their own identities and the identities of those around them.
